Staff Sgt. Cecil Corn from Ft. Worth, Texas. Corn was submitted by his grandson, Matt Miranda. Staff Sgt. Corn passed away last year after spending part of his life contributing to the legacy of the Marine Corps. Corn enlisted at the age of 17 in 1946 and served as an infantryman at the Pusan Perimeter. Later during the Inchon Landings, he was wounded for the first time. He then fought at the Chosin Reservoir where he was wounded once again. After being injured a second time he was sent back to the States and was then assigned to be one of President Truman’s White House guards. He left active service in 1954. His grandson wrote: “The picture shown is actually him in combat at Inchon. I got him a Marine Corps history book for Christmas one year. While he was looking through it he said, ‘Well, there’s one of my best buddies … and yeah, that’s me!’ He remembered that day as if it were yesterday, and told us about all his buds in the picture. He was the toughest Marine I ever knew, and had many awesome stories to tell.”
